Southampton 11/11/200826 viewsThe QE2 arrives at Southampton for the very last time, a day of sadness as we said goodbye. She was late arriving after the incident with the sandbank. this allowed a chance to see her with the early morning sun catching her. (Photo taken onboard the Shieldhall)caledonia (0 votes)

At first sight... Southampton July 200820 viewsI was beyond excited to see QE2 for the very first time. Metadata on photo bears that out: Wednesday, 2 July 2008 at 05:29 as I had set an alarm the night before to make sure I would see her arriving early next day. We had driven to Southampton the night before to make sure we were there in plenty of time and I was honoured to celebrate a significant birthday onboard QE2. Still have friends we met on that cruise. Grill Britannia (0 votes)

Beautiful Bow...Lisbon Friday 4th July 200813 viewsI am smiling here as I was very relieved to make it safely back to QE2 after a trip into Lisbon. My husband thought the famous bridge was closer to Lisbon than it turned out to be! We walked back but my choice of footwear had not anticipated having to do that and my feet were covered in blisters. However, being next to QE2's beautiful bow resulted in a smiling photo anyway.Grill Britannia (0 votes)

Last ever view...so far - Greenock Sunday 5th October 200816 viewsIt's been really hard choosing only 3 memorable photos so I have included my first and last sightings of QE2. This was taken during her last trip to the Clyde during her final season. Still to make it to Dubai to see her there. It would be the only reason I would ever consider going to Dubai. A Personal treasured QE2 moment24 viewsThis is not really a photo of the wonderful QE2 itself but is one of my most treasured pictures I have of my Account of Wages showing my being promoted from Engine Room Boy to Assistant Mechanic at age just 17yrs. I was so pleased and delighted to show my parents and not to mention more than doubling my wages..! So apologies if not a picture of the ship but without doubt a treasured picture for me and my parents at the time.John D Hobley FinstR (0 votes)

Crewing the QE2 passenger launches28 viewsThis is one of my favourite pictures of all my time on board as a fun and really enjoyable memory helping (with the permission of my chief engineer) to crew the passenger launches when cruising. And a great way to learn lifeboat skills launching them off the ship and not to forget to be able to earn much needed extra overtime payments.! Neil MacKenzie was crew mate.

Where the dream started14 viewsMy first bridge visit, with the nursery, in late July 2005. This is where the dream of going to sea as a deck officer started. I was 8 years old at the time. We were speeding through a warm, calm, and very sunny Bay of Biscay at nearly 28.5 knots en-route back to Southampton after a Mediterranean cruise. QE2's headwind was immense as I was almost blown over when peaking over the leading edge of the port bridge wing whilst standing on the compass repeater platform.Thomas Hypher (0 votes)
