And here is the dinner, before or after the Edinburgh Tattoo (or maybe we missed it altogether -- I have forgotten!). I do remember that the weather for the impressive Tattoo was pretty inclement, but at least it did not rain a lot, so that we did not need the plastic rain capes which the crew had kindly issued us with.

For lunch, I would like :

-- the cheese tortellini
-- the red snapper
-- the rhubarb tart

That rhubarb tart is bound to be wonderful!

And for dinner :

-- the Caesar salad
-- the broiled sea bass
-- the flamed cherries

Delicious all round!

I had a light lunch of fruit platter, followed by cheese and biscuits and coffee

This evening :

Chilled carrot and orange soup
Cous cous with hazelnut stuffed baked zucchini peperonata stew
Vanilla ice cream with butterscotch sauce

I am tempted to have a glass of the wine that our chef engineer has ordered for our table.  Our wine waiter has also suggested that as we are in Scotland, we order a glass of Drambuie with ice after our meal to sip at the table or in the cocktail bar or a malt whisky.

Coffee and petits fours

26 August 2000. Lunch in the port of South Queensferry.

We went to look at the Royal Yacht Britannia and very much enjoyed that ship and the stories we were told.

And this dinner was the final main meal on this cruise -- by the next morning it was breakfast back in Southampton...

Efficient tender service to the little town of South Queensferry and back in time for lunch, then out again to visit Hopetown House now far from the town.

Lunch:

Baked whole-wheat pancake filled with spinach and corn
Mixed greens with a French dressing
Chilled fresh fruit

Dinner:

Cream of broccoli and stilton with a freshly baked roll
Vegetarian vegetables in a Guinness Beer Batter with remoulade sauce
Apple and rhubarb crumble with vanilla ice cream

Coffee and petits fours

Great photo, Lynda, great memory!

Lunch

-- Baked whole wheat pancakes with spinach and corn
-- Bubble and squeak
-- Raspberry meringue tartlet

I wonder whether I shall ever get the chance to try Bubble and Squeak in real life!

Dinner

-- cream of broccoli and Stilton
-- baked fillet of Norwegian salmon
-- apple and rhubarb crumble

And yes, Lynda, excellent idea to enjoy a Drambuie together -- it's a long time since I last had one :) .

Things have been a lot busier recently, including the other side of being a "deckie" - in other words doing a lot of maintenance in the form of - for example - paint chipping, repainting, and looking after the lifesaving equipment besides bridge watches and learning on the job including visiting the machinery spaces to know how different things behave when we turn the helm and flick the switches up on the bridge. Being down below near to the electric motors when they went from 77rpm up to 144rpm when "going up through the gate" and into free sailing mode was a highlight!

My dinner table attendance will be sporadic as a result but I look forward to joining when possible!

Tonight I had:

Starter: Cock a Leekie Soup

Main: The Chicken Curry!

Dessert: The After Eight Parfait.
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.
