Saw this today, and was fascinated by it.  A growing area of interest for me, as QE2's powerplant was always a key area of interest for me, and I see there is a dramatic need to completely re-think ship propulsion now.

its green design means it can run for up to six days on the fuel needed for one day on most traditional mono-hull ferries of equivalent capacity.

Thats an absolutely outstanding claim.

The owner Andrwew banks has always said  if he was given the subsidy that Northlink get, he would run the service for free. His is an entierely privately funded operation. He has offered his old ferry for use to the Northlink company when they dry dock their ferries. when that hapens the capacity on the pentland firth is reduced to 12 passengers.
Of course we all know the local council cannot and will on pain of death never take up his offer, they have been totally against his service since day one, and struggle even to tarmac the road down to the ferry
They also do the best bacon rolls onboard ever .
From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,
you just knew you were in for a very special time ahead.!
