Hello from Richard Woodall
« on: Aug 13, 2009, 01:19 AM »
Hi everyone, my name is Richard Woodall, and my dad was Captain of QE2 till the mid 90's when he retired. He was the first captain to bring it in to his home port of Liverpool. Probably like many other people on this site I’m in contact with Nakheel so i can get the latest info. It sounds like this is teh perfect place to get all the latest news.

I think everybody here will know your name and your father very well Richard, not much need for introductions on that front!  Great to have you on (the) board!

Any information that you and he can shed on any of the many varied topics discussed here will be much appreciated I'm sure, and I hope you both enjoy it, even if he is doing so second hand!

Would be interested to know if he'd be tempted to travel to Cape Town to see his old command?

Cheers,

- Rob

Hi Richard and welcome

I worked on the QE2 from 90-98 had the chance to meet your father, almost once a week i was in his Quarters doing the Cocktail Parties.Very pleasant man indeed. He was very well liked by the Crew.

On his last day in charge there was a big farewell party for him in the Queens Room.I gave him a farewell hand shake.

Heres is 2 photos of that,i have plenty more but they all have to be scanned.

Welcome, Richard! I last saw your father at the Farewell QE2 concert in Liverpool Anglican Cathedral  in October 2008. He was in fine form and his love of QE2 shone out. Perhaps you were there too?

Hi Richard, and Welcome!

It's really good that you've joined us.

Hope that you will enjoy discovering things here!

There are a few mentions of Liverpool, and some photos in the Gallery too.
