This is my best effort from the final afternoon of the last transatlantic after QM2 had moved ahead of QE2.

Checking my copy of the excellent 'The Saxonia Sisters' by Clive Harvey shows all four of the class had the bow crests - Carinthia at least was launched with it in situ.

Looking at this book for the first time in years reveals the Bought at the Ocean Bookshop QE2 sticker - checking my records one of 12 books i bought on board my first round trip - talk about a kid in a sweet shop - thank goodness the car was waiting for me with CPS at QE II Terminal so excess purchases not a problem luggage wise.

I've just realised QE2's "Warwick" crest survived the 90 plus foot freak wave within two weeks of it's first installation in September 1995. Did it receive any damage given the battering the foredeck itself and the foredeck equipment got just below and given Ron Warwick's account of the wave appearing like the white cliffs of Dover from the bridge before breaking onto the forward end of the ship?

First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.
