It's in the same location as the party that the police got involved with the other month. Seven Deck forward, in an old storeroom. I hope it's successful to avoid (more) bad press about QE2 but time will tell...
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

I am not keen on the idea of having this type of event on QE2, but just need to wait and see feedback from people staying on the ship.

I wonder what the fire regulations are like in Dubai?  It would worry me if I was staying on the ship and a fire broke out in this nightclub area.

I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

QE2 currently has a 26 foot draft from recent photos but used to have a 32 foot draft, both of which I presume are from the bottom of the keel. This nightclub isn't in the bilge tanks or the lowest available deck (as far as I know) so I'm not sure how it can be 7 metres/23 feet underwater.

Hope you have a good time Roy, it will be her anniversary month and just after the grand opening...hopefully they will run some special events.

Yes Lynda! Entries and exits in a hurry could be tricky; smoke / ventilation could be a huge problem as well as access to water for fire hoses...both the local fire regulations  as well as insurance cover could present difficulties too.
There was a fire in a hotel in Dubai not that long ago - and thinking in terms of many party people exiting an oil-filled (?flammable) area at speed could present a significant problem for the management.
Hopefully all thesde issues will have been addressed prior ton opening up all areas of the ship to the general public - after all, she has only one-sided and therefore limited access for everyone now.

If the QE2 Dubai Hotel Manager is able to add more to this topic, it could be very useful to know more details so as to allay inevitable concerns.

I am sat here, feeling a bit more relaxed about it than most of you, I think it's quite innovative to use an otherwise redundant part of the ship, add something different and keep the income coming in, which is so important to the ship's long-term survival.

I am sure all fire and security regulations will be met.  The ship has a modern fire detection system, just like the one we were shown on the QM2...with a person manning it in the deck 2 control room, 24/7.

My main concern is, is she getting enough visitors?

Hi Alex,

About the numbers of visitors at the moment - the temperatures will be high right now, which could affect the visitors' numbers overall in Dubai.
This period of time will surely be a sort of 'pilot-study', won't it?

Did you get to see the Engine room, and the ECR?
It would be very interesting to know what plans have been made for emergency exits?
A fire detection system will of course been mandatory, as will sprinkler systems etc - however an  exit  for party-goers, as well as hotel and dining guests in an emergency arrangement could be quite difficult - with possibly the need for Fire Fighter to enter as well as guest to exit simultaneously.
Did they have anything like a 'crew' and Guest Drill "For exercise, only" when you were on board?
Without tenders and life-rafts  to help either....

Engine Room and ECR are closed for visitors and guests for now.
Fire sprinkler systems and exits marks are in place enough number of gangways are in place in case of a emergency.QE2 is a building now and just like any other shore side hotel you have no exercise for hotel guests or tenders or life rafts.

QE2 has been update for fire so dont worry

Not yet, in the normal tour at least ;) , and we don't know when the Bridge will be officially open to visitors (still having work done on it and there was a lot of work to do in the most recent photos, particularly on the Bridge wings).
