I got this this morning, but due to having a job, haven't had a chance to post it until just now.

I've spoken to BBC Radio Scotland, BBC South, CNN and The National, although I must admit I'm starting to wonder why I'm helping promote a multi-million dollar enterprise in my spare time...

Interesting... I remember it being green!

"Located mid-ship on the Quarter Deck, the Chartroom Bar is a time-capsule – maintaining the same nautical interiors of its former years. Red carpeting, period lounge tables and thoughtful mood lighting are all centered around the bar that has had its original world-map reinstalled."

I remember it being a turquoise/blue colour (and checking photos seems to confirm this). Maybe it was a red carpet when the Chartroom Bar was constructed in one of the refits (Project Lifestyle?) - maybe Michael can confirm?

The Chart Room
The area round the bar itself was polished wood flooring - the carpet was a deep shade of green-blue, toning in well with the furnishings along the covered alleyway!
(btw - This was never called The Chart Room  Bar as in the Press Release!)

Thank you for correcting me Rosie, I'd forgotten it was just called "The Chart Room". Likewise the carpet merged well with the rest of the covered promenade on that side and in that area of Quarter Deck!

There are QE2 stories in today's UK printed papers: The Times, Guardian and Independent.

Well I've read all attachments and its looking promising - not full of the usual Dubai "bling" references.

Also they refer to "passengers" - even Cunard themselves don't do that these days!

Maybe just maybe the current owners realise what they have.

Interested to see if Phase 2 opens up some of the non passenger areas that aren't being utilised by the hotel operation - theres got to be a good tour in that!!

I wish them and above all QE2 all the very best.

Clydebuilt and Proud Folks :)

Allow me to echo the same thoughts. 8)

It might be said that I have perhaps been known to voice my comments in the past at the lack of any thoughts and poor Louis got it full guns . but credit to him, he did always did bounce back for more  ( l still think he was their hidden mole or unofficial PR person) but he seems to have cleared off to do his own thing.
Anyway my humble pie is ready to be consumed, its wont be a lot mindyou...but l will at least taste it ;) ;)

Two reasons You love QE2
and The owners will fly you out all expenses paid to do a re shoot of your last video and show the world how much QE2 has changed...
Well its the least they could do !! and you can give us an exclusive here, to heck with Facebook  :-X

From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,
you just knew you were in for a very special time ahead.!

Every good wish to our beloved QE2 and her "new" owners, who do seem to realize the prize that they have !   :)

Ooh I may have seen this topic recently or some time ago as it looks familiar from one of my "forum exploration" sessions given the treasure trove of knowledge and information on this forum! The literal location (excuse the alliteration!)  ;D .

Does anyone know if it was a room off the vestibule-like-area leading to the bridge as I don't remember seeing this room (the real chart room) and was under the understanding (until just now) that navigation was done in the rear part of the main bit of the bridge itself where the desk and charts were in front of the stabiliser panel and watertight door/fire alarm panels but behind the helm. This may have been because we were kept on the bridge itself so we didn't get lost or break something ;)  ;) even though I was the only child on this occasion!

QE2 Mediterranean cruise, July 2008 (my last trip on QE2) by Thomas Hypher, on Flickr

In my above photo from July 2008, is the area I've tried to describe in my above paragraph. Where the female deck/bridge officer is standing - the standing desk area if you like.

Anyway I am going very off topic here, sorry! Maybe another topic is needed or this post can be fitted in as part of another topic?
