This must make providing supplies from on shore difficult
One of the other threads showed some multi colored plastic pipework  on the quayside no doubt for utility's these would need to have hoses connected to counter movement

Hi Roy,

Those multi-coloured pipes have elbows in the connections to allow for the tidal movement. Think of two petrol pump nozzle joints connected together.
Many two-stroke marine marine diesels used a similar idea to those coloured pipes for getting the cooling water into and out of the piston internal galleries.

Re the comment on the slack mooring lines - this will be because their are no generators running. To leave the mooring winches in 'Auto-Tension' mode, they must have power on all the time, which QE2 can no longer supply, so they leave the mooring lines with a bit of slack to allow for the rise and fall of the tides.

When previously operated in the 'Auto' mode, the winches would keep the lines tight, regardless of the state of the tide.

I wondered about the elbows
Just trying to think of all the services they need to provide saw mention of a shore side A/C instillation being built, Sewage and black water ( sinks And Baths etc),  Surface water could be directed  into the port its not as easy as on a normal land based hotel with movement in every which way to be considered

When I flew to Dubai, I treated myself to a Sony NEX-3 camera, which I loved but has just been pensioned off and replaced with a Sony A6000, which I very much look forward to using now that summer is here.

As Rob said, Awesome photos! I'm over here with a Nikon Coolpix A10 that takes the majority of my photos. Would recommend as it's small enough to hold in a pocket. I would also recommend the Polaroid Cube as it's small enough to be inconspicuous and nobody would know that you have one on you.

I may be in minority here but looking at her stern lettering with the ship in the correct location I actually think it looks OK.

In fact I think should looks amazing - that paint job has done her the world of good IMHO.
