Could you please help me and date her final call to Cagliari? Apologies, I cannot consult my 2008 schedule at present...

I did not frankly enjoy his comments, but it was interesting all the same why he thought that QE2's time had definitely come : she needed tugs to manoeuvre, she did not have enough balcony cabins, she could not accommodate sufficient passengers and crew. To him, she was grand, but belonging to a bygone era. A historic ship.

I came upon this and found your report here, it is wonderful, and sounds as if it would have been the trip of a lifetime. Thank You.

It will certainly bring back a few good memories, and the sailing was just before what must have been the Final Voyage through the Mediterranean ( for example: 3.11.2008 - Final call at Dubrovnik) and Cagliari.

This is a great wee video, and commentary.  Although he's not a QE2 expert, he doesn't really say anything incorrect and he realised how significant it was to see her.

I believe this video was linked to in a new topic of it's own a couple/few months ago that was commented on by several forum members. He makes several incorrect statements partly due to lack of research, but took some excellent photos.

Although he gets some facts wrong, the gist of what he says is bang-on.  He realised something that many cruise fans did not at the time - that she was the last of her kind, and seeing her was a moment to be treasured.

Yes I agree he recognised her significance and impending retirement, the main things to take away.
