Well for her size the MV Britannic III used around half the fuel that other steam ships of her day.
I knew the fuel savings were extreme but not that substantial! Really shows the advantages of diesel.

I wish there was a model of the oceanic so that we can know how the profile looked.

If you run a quick Google Image search you can find a few scale built models and they do a wonderful job of showing her splendid profile, unfortunately Cunard destroyed a large amount of WSL and Oceanic documentation in the 70's so many details are obscure.

She would have been well over 1,000 feet and would eclipse QM.

Yes Olympic would have been dwarfed by her new fleet mate! Even Majestic who would have served alongside her would have looked somewhat minuscule in comparison.

The stern is hideous

Hideous it might have been but, i would deduce that it was possibly designed using scale models in a water tank to test the effects of drag and sea handling, but at least it had 26 lifeboats!

Yes it was designed in a water tank and from what I can gather was incredibly efficient, however this may not have been the final design, I don't get why it's considered hideous, in my eyes Oceanic rivals even QE2 in terms of beauty; But hey each to their own!  ;)

I saw those photos myself on this page. [Link]: http://whitestarmoments.weebly.com/oceanic-iii.html

You're right! Also get this, one of her original designs had her looking more like Olympic, with four funnels and a cruiser stern, featuring the best of said ship and Majestic. She would've been 904' long, 96' wide, and 99' tall, so even she would've been smaller than Majestic.

I really wish the third generation of Oceanic would've come to, and even more so, if the Olympic-class was a success, more great White Star Liners came topped by this one, and even more in the future. Who knows, they might still be around today, had Titanic not sunk, for that was the beginning of the end. Imagine how cool it'd be if history went that way. "The White Star Era." :)

Her final design specified her as being well over 1000ft, easily eclipsing Queen Mary, Elizabeth and Normandie, I was never an avid fan of her earlier designs, the final sleek motorship profile is what captured my attention.

Which explains why that's your profile pic. ;D

Yeah, I know.
