10th May 2016
Just over a Month ago apart from Lifeboats 1 and 3 all other Lifeboats on the Staboardside were lowered onto the dockside.Today those Lifeboats were lifted onto to trucks and moved to area on the other side of the old Cruise Terminal Building which is about 130 meters from the ship.

Photos were sent to me but to safeguard my contact for now I cant make them public.

Thanks for the latest news, Louis.  Looks like we need to wait and see what happens next.

Thanks, Louis, for the information.  If only those working on QE2 in Dubai would give us a periodic update on the work being done.  Wishful thinking, I guess.  Thank your contact for the photo and info.

Very surprised that such a impotant thread has so little comments :(

I think we are sitting here with bated breath waiting for the story to arrive at today's date...

Louis, this is an excellent thread in which you have pulled together what we have already seen separately before, so that it is tidy and chronological and ready to be looked at and studied way into the future. It is good to see these developments practically day by day, and your comments and highlights are very helpful to understanding the pictures. It is the background that remains mysterious... but meanwhile the pictures sent by your contacts are so valuable, as are your own comments.

I agree with Bruce.

Louis has done a lot of work to make contacts in Dubai that have given him picture of QE2, which he has posted in Photos from Dubai 2016 topic https://www.theqe2story.com/forum/index.php/topic,7104.msg76913.html#msg76913

He has then taken time to list the photos in date order on this topic, so that we have a record in chronological order since August last year. We have no way of knowing exactly what work is being done on the ship or the plans for her, but the fact that she has been moved to a dock where she can be seen and there are workmen on the ship, can only give us some hope.

I'm waiting till the end to comment on the whole story!  Lots of our members only visit once a week or so.

It would be good if you did a monthly summary on this topic, a review of the past month, in addition to the day by day and breaking news topic.

It really is very sad to see her beautiful interiors looking so filthy... She looks a far cry from the QE2 that Rob documented back in 2011.

This discussion has taken us somehow on a tangent away from the great illustrated timeline created by Louis of happenings on board and around QE2 from August 2015 to now.

Louis, we were not trying to take over your thread. It may be best to move all this discussion to a separate thread so that you can continue your timeline uninterrupted by general comments.

Looking forward to seeing more pictures and notes about how it all continued :) .

Since my post here last on her exterior not much has happened apart from the lifeboats and davits removal.
On the inside is where the major work is going on.

Here are some photos from this year so far

A update to QE2 over the last few days the movement around QE2 with cars and people
are way more than that on a normal day.Not only workers going onboard but "visitors" too

A construction of elevator shaft near QE2 on the outside which will take future guests directly
up to the Midships Lobby will start soon.
