MHI built Cruise Ships

Hi all
I know this is a stupid gricer/gunzel/railfany kind of question.

As we know Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is sort of a minor player in cruse ship construction. And I was wondering how the quality of their cruse ships compare to the European builders.  Although looking at the loss incurred over the Aida contracts looks like MHI might be on the outer for quite some time.

From what I've heard ships built by MHI are superb in quality and better than European. That's part of MHI's problem!

Interesting point. I do remember seeing an MHI cruse ship at Circular Quay in the late 90's and the welding looked top notch, much cleaner than Fincantieri. The only ones that were in that class of construction were the penultimate UK built passenger ships. I.E QE2,Canberra, the then Vistafijord  etc.

I take it the Diamond Sapphire Princess combo are two of the most trouble free units of the Carnival fleet and had far fewer warranty claims on them than from the European builders.
