I was delighted that my photo "QE2 her history started here" was given the most votes for the July competition.  The photo taken in John Brown's in September 1967 was at the start of QE2's life and a special photo for me.

The runner up is Davina's photo "Maiden Call Falkland Island 1993.  The Falklands War was a  significant time in QE2's history and this photo of the ship's maiden visit to the Falkland Isles in 1993 is a wonderful image and one of my favourites.

At a time when we do not know what the future holds for QE2 it is good to remember her history, and the photos submitted for the July competition certainly captured the theme very well.

Congratulations to everyone who entered and thank-you to everyone who voted.

The results of the votes of all photos can now be seen in the poll topic.

Congratulations to you, Lynda and Louis! Both of you are such regular contributors, it is great to see you as this month's winners.

And as well as that, both are such tremendously historic photos. Louis, the penguins in the foreground were a brilliant catch! As was the (more prosaic) bollard in the foreground of yours, Lynda -- it completes the composition very nicely.

Congratulations to Lynda and Louis for being this month's winner and runner up in the photo competition.  Both are superb photos as are all that were entered.  It is always such a difficult decision to make when voting.  Each and every photo represents our beloved QE2 and brings back such wonderful memories of her and are here for all to see and enjoy and remember.  I agree, Isabelle, the penguins are marvelous ! (As an aside, former Cunard Commodore Harry Grattidge had a penguin collection, which was lost with the Lancastria, when she went down during WW II and he was an officer aboard.  He built up the collection again, and I was pleased to have been able to send him a small ceramic penguin for his collection.)

Congratulations both!
That photo with the penguins is a one-off!
The photo of QE2 under construction seems so familiar as there have been many in the press etc, but to have one of your own is just special, so thanks for sharing it with us. Just brilliant.

The postman delivered my Photo Competition prize today and I just wanted to say I am absolutely delighted with the book.

When I opened the envelope, the book was wrapped in beautiful paper with Japanese writing that was tied with a red ribbon.  There also was a postcard photo of a Art Nouveau restaurant, which I really appreciated as I love Art Nouveau design.

At first I did not want to unwrap the parcel, but now that the parcel is unwrapped I am looking forward to reading the book.

Thank-you to Isabelle for the prize and for making it so special....and thank-you to everyone who voted for the photo.

Congratulations to our winner and joint runners up for the December competition "Art Work on QE2" ... The winner was Harev with his photo "Queen Elizabeth bust sculpture in Queens Room"

Off topic I know, but this was a popular venue for private cocktail parties hosted by First Class pax. When a passenger requested a private function here, we would book the location, organise a steward and then order the requisite number of canapes. The last was done by 'raising a chit' which went to the Kitchens, via the Controller's Office so the pax could be billed accordingly. The chit for a function at this location would be worded something like:

Account Mr & Mrs Smith, Cabin 1234
10 September, 1830-1930, canapes - 12 covers, UHMB

It may also limit what drinks to be served eg, Champagne cocktails, or perhaps beer and wine. But usually it was open - the host being happy with any drinks ordered by his/her guests.

UHMB was an abbreviation for Under Her Majesty's Bust.
