Changes to QE2 Public Areas 1969 to 1996

I have yet to see discussion here about the old Lido lunch buffet service that was "magically" raised through the floor from the kitchen below the Quarter deck every day for lunch in the hallway leading aft from the Queens room.  You would serve yourself from the buffet line and the then find a seat further aft, around the old quarter deck pool and under the Magradodome and the old night club. Based on my history on board I imagine the lifts were removed in the 94 refit. (a much better solution was the final lido service arrangement, though I do miss the Magradome.

I was never really into Buffets at this point , But none the less they always seemed to put on a good show.

I remember this buffet in April 87 on the shakedown cruise.  Couldn't believe being told to help myself, didn't get that at home!  Remember lovely cold meats (which are still a favourite at buffets now).
Think we ate in the Queens room on the brand new leather seats...

On the outward trip to New York after the refit the workmen were still working on that area, lf my fading memory is correct it was only ready for our use on the homeward trip. I have a pic on my Facebook page of the workers in action so to speak .

Jeff, I was on there until Christmass 88 and there were no lifts apart from "G" stair lifts. But there again there were lunch buffets in the lido very infrequently, like 2/year. But when we visited in 91/92 there were buffets there, it was good too!
