Background:
Born: 15 December 1933 in London.  Lived in Merseyside.  His father was a Londoner, his mother was from Boston, USA
Educated:  Birkenhead School for Boys
Hoylake-raised Captain Woodall began his seafaring career as a 16-year-old cadet after leaving Birkenhead School, later joining Cunard where the first cruise liner he worked on was the RMS Sylvania.
Died:  18 April 2012

Navy Career:
1960:  Started career with Cunard Line
1972:  Junior First Officer onboard QE2 at the time of the mid atlantic bomb hoax
1976:  RNR Royal Naval and Royal Marine Forces Reserve Decoration awarded to Lieutenant Commander R. A. WOODALL, R.N.R

1990: Captain of QE2 for her maiden visit to Liverpool
1990: Master of QE2 for her record 30.26 knots from New York to Southampton
1992: Master when QE2 hit the rocks off Marthas Vinyard
1994  Captain, and host, when HM the Queen visited the ship at Spithead, and sailed with us up to Southampton
2012: Captain Woodall's remains were committed to the deep from the deck of Queen Mary 2 on August 31st 2012. The ceremony was conducted by Captain Chris Wells Master of QM2
