Please does anyone know when Harris Tweed was used?
Was it in the original furnishings - I wonder if anyone has a photo?
Wondering where, and for how long, too!?

Maybe the Double Room chairs?  It would have matched the herring bone pattern of the carpet.  I'll see what kind of pictures I have.

Thank you Bob,
I was wondering whether Harris Tweed might have been used in one of the Bars,
because it might have been a bit 'scratchy for 'comfortable' chairs.
Interesting too, to think of herring-bone tweed -
In the Sixties, tweeds definitely had a 'country' type of feel about them then,
and I was wondering where a 'tweedy' sort of place might have been on QE2!
The colours of tweed generally then were quite muted, mellow even -
I remember 'smart country ladies and gentlemen' wore tweeds a great deal,
particularly greens, browns, greys, blues - and heathery colours.

Rosie,
Go to my FLICKR page (https://www.flickr.com/photos/33120597@N03/sets/72157616250526148/) and look at photo numbers 19, 35, 36, 37 in the largest size.

Number 19 shows a possibility of tweed used on the stateroom bed bumpers (brown cushioned rim around the bed) - possiblity one.

Numbers 35-37 show the Double Room furniture and look to me to be the strongest possiblity of Harris Tweed use.  35 and 37 are the better of the three.

It just hit me 30 years and 3 months after my last time on QE2 that there were two colors of Double Room chairs - purple around the edge of the dance floor and orange everywhere else.  Amazing...

Greetings - Kyle!
and THANK YOU!
What a really good post - I can't wait to make time to read and enjoy it properly.
Wouldn't it be just so good to put the clock back?!
Alternatively, maybe we should be planning a proper 'The QE2 Exhibition'!
(with the inclusion of Harris Tweed, Race and Bertoia chairs. a few Ugly Blue Mugs and much more besides!!)

Hi Kyle,

According to the counter on the tiop of the main page, you're the 411th member, which I find fitting.  Those in the states dial 411 for telephone directory information.  Kyle has a wealth of QE2 information at hand, as you just demonstrated.    ;D

Ian McNaught kept a copy on his desk on QE2.  I hope he took it with him.

Hi Pete and thank you!
It's a great link and the journal has great photographs -
and if you enter VADS into the advanced search window,
you'll also find a few other topics that refer to it as well,
during the early days of Forum discussions!
How are you doin'?!
Cheers
Rosie
