Bob Lockwood was a keen sportsman and an Army boxing champion, and we sparred many rounds together onboard. In the 70s, the QE2 broke down in the North Atlantic on her way to the Caribbean, and the passengers were offloaded to another ship while two Moran tugs were sent to tow us to Bermuda, which I think took four days. The cruise staff were looking for ideas to keep the crew occupied, and someone suggested a boxing exhibition with myself and Bob. We boxed 3x3 minute, fast and furious rounds on the top deck. The photo shows (extreme right) referee Eric Mason, the QE2 fitness guru, who some old timers may remember found his 15 minutes of fame on the back of Kellogg's Corn Flakes boxes. Sitting on the deck is the timekeeper Bob Wilkinson (I think), the Cruise Director. I met Bob again in New Zealand when the QE2 visited, but unfortunately was not able to spend much time with him.
