Nope from me I'm afraid - was on end of July 2008 to Norway so possibly just missed you?
Think you should post some more info and see if it rings any bells.
Is there a story with the pineapples that you care to share? ???

The story of the pineapple can be a long one. I live in a rural area of Norfolk so I always need my car, therefore never drink. The only time I ever drink is on holiday (Away from my car) . Picture it... QE2 July 2008, Sail-away Gibraltar, last port before home. Everyone having a great time. Now I tried to stay clear of the cocktails as my onboard account had been RACKED-UP in the shops. Well at the Funnel Bar under the stars, at about 10pm the party started and the coctail of the evening was Pino Colada- in a Pineapple. Me being rather adventurous and child-minded (about drinking out of a piece of fruit) got the better of me. Following that, I let myself go and had 3 carribean sunsets, and a strawberry Daquari and ended up in the Yacht Club till 3am with new found friends. Typical why does it take 2 weeks to meet people and say HI... lol  Anyway- that is the story with me and the pineapple. My mum was a bit taken aback seeing i'd spent the best part of a FIVER on what turned out to be a small amount of liquid, and something I couldnt eat  ;D ;D ;D

I love looking back on my last cruise, I feel it was the best one of the 3. More strories to come... ;)

And the moral of the story is...... be adventurous with fruity alcoholic drinks and talk to random strangers at the earliest available opportunity.
Fab story!

I too fell prey to the lure of a fruity cocktail even though I ABSOLUTELY hate the things in real life.

Shared a table with Lightbody over the summer; marvellous company, lots of after dinner drinks.
Ended up in the Yacht Club one night after evening of fine French themed cuisine (Abba night I do believe?). Lovely summer night in the Med, balmy warm air so sitting outside and enjoying a glass or two. Managed to tempt Rob - as another fan of ye olde single malts - to go for a Rusty Nail instead.
All good. Next cocktail choice was his..... Little table with man making special cocktails of the day by the door. Lightbody procured something that I do believe was referred to as a Riviera Breeze. Pink, fruity, stuff on the top of the glass, tasted like a liquid version of pear drops.

Fast forward to next morning... arrival in Barcelona. Early alarm call for breakfast before tour. Alarm worked, shower worked - strange pear drop taste in my mouth even after toothpaste and memories of trying l'escargot for the first time the night before. Thoughts of coach ride to see Gaudi stuff..... ooh, so not a good idea.
Put 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door, lay down in my towel on the bed, moaned and groaned and fell asleep only to be woken up by strange sloppy sounds, a face at the window, followed by another one, and another one.

Moral to my story?..... Don't let Rob choose the drinks..... and beware of towel slippage when Cunard window cleaners are nearby  :o

Ali I love it.... :D :D :D made me laugh (but not at your expense). Yes -- cocktail, warm summer air, the MED and the Yacht Club all seem to add up to QE2 for me.

Fortunatly I never had a hang over while onboard, I managed to roll in at 2am and get up for breakfast at 8am for most of the cruise. The worst thing was getting SUN STROKE in Cannes which lost me my next port of call Livorno (Nothing to write home about).  ::)

To reply to a question asked six years ago, yes I was on the July 2008 Mediterranean cruise.  But I steered clear of pineapple cocktails.  I did however develop a taste for the White Ladies served in the Chartroom Bar, which I interspersed with forays onto the Queen's Room dance floor.  The cocktails provided Dutch courage for the dancing; the dancing helped work off the effects of the cocktails - quite a satisfactory cycle!

Digging up an old topic...and yet again it's a small world!

I was on the July 2005 Med cruise with my parents (our third voyage onboard QE2) and had my first bridge visit towards the end of the voyage courtesy of being in the Nursery. It was named "Mediterranean Treasures" according to the folder of photos my Dad took that now resides on my OneDrive (archived). I have shared various photos, elsewhere on the forum, from this voyage and my current profile photo shows me at the wheel on this first bridge visit. The photos from this voyage as well as our other QE2 voyages are on my Flickr too.

First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

Possibly the first two, but as Chief Security Officer one voyage really just blends into another! Was there anything special about either to help activate the rusty brain cells?
I'd left early July 05 to serve penance on Ocean Village, then 06 & 08 I was 'broadening my maritime knowledge' with Princess, either Sun Princess or Coral Princess.

Andy,

How do the words 'Penance' and 'Ocean Village' go together? Haha.

Although Charlie did tell me off for not putting my face in on the bridge enough! (Early 2010)
Then Sarah gave Blair a huge hug as we departed - he wasn't quick enough to get
out of the way, although Sarah was kinda blocking the gangway completely!

And yes, I think I was on the July 2008 Med cruise - from the 2nd to the 16th (from memory)

Cheers,

Skilly

Andy,

How do the words 'Penance' and 'Ocean Village' go together? Haha.

Penance; punishment inflicted on oneself as an outward expression of repentance for wrongdoing.
"he had done public penance for those hasty words"
synonyms:   atonement, expiation, self-punishment, self-mortification, self-abasement, reparation, amends, penalty, punishment More
2. a sacrament in which a member of the Church confesses sins to a priest and is given absolution.

Both these fit my situation with regards to OV!

The wrongdoing being, having the 'audacity' to be on a Cunard contract when Princess were running the show!
