Hello from Chris!
« on: Jan 28, 2009, 12:31 AM »
Hello all!

I've known Rob for at least a decade sharing the occasional email about QE2 during this time.  I think this is a superb idea. Thanks for taking the time to set this forum up - hopefully it will get a large and loyal following - there are a lot of QE2 fans out there!!

A bit about me... I became extremely interested in QE2 at age 11 when I saw her for the first time in Auckland Harbour. She was superb. I became instantly addicted to life aboard the ship - I'm sure it's the same for a lot of you - it's so easy to become passionate about QE2 - to remember every sound, every room, every corridor... to remember the feel of her moving across the ocean, her engine vibration almost like a heart beat...

I have run an independent Cunard website since 1999 - so it will celebrate its 10th Birthday this year - at www.chriscunard.com - the idea behind the website was, and still is, to provide easy to access information and imagery of the great Cunarders (especially QE2, QM2 and now Queen Victoria).

Last year I co-authored a photographic QE2 book -http://www.qe2book.com and was fortunate to lecture aboard QE2 during her farewell Mediterranean Sojourn cruise. Speaking aboard QE2 about QE2 to people who love QE2 was a superb and unforgettable experience. I am now in the process of co-authoring a further four books about Cunard's Ocean Liners which is a very exciting experience!

Cheers,
Chris.

I second Ali's comments there Chris and if you keep writing them my friend then I shall keep buying!  It was great to meet you during last year's Med Sojourn. Regards and say 'Hi' to Rachelle from us.  Have a great cruise and look forward to catching up with you again on your return.

Thanks everyone! I'm really glad you liked the last book (Rachelle is too) - we hope that QM2 Journey and The QE2 Story are as much enjoyed!

Welcome aboard Chris!

Love your last QE2 book - its a little memory book of QE2 in her later years, which is the way many of us will remember her.  Looking forward to your next one - it has an excellent name!!   :P

Cheers,

- Rob

Chris, just spotted this, and well, sorry for the 2+ year delay as well! ;) It's a little ironic having stumbled onto this old post. I eventually received a copy of your book but after I lent it to a teacher who had a terrible memory at remembering to return things, I let it go and told him to keep it.
