1st August 1998 on QE2's first and only visit to Kirkwall.  The local inter-island ferries ran trips round Kirkwall Bay all day and here are a couple of the pictures I took.  Unfortunately I did not take one of the crew member who was trying his luck with a fishing rod from an open doorway in the hull.

Great photos! My mother was there, and the visit (including the whiskey!) left a strong impression with her -- the exceptionality of the visit and the joy of the local people.

Indeed lovely photos.

They also sold the whisky on QE2... Glad you liked Kirkwall (Orkney) its now a major cruise port, and as a fellow Orcadian, it is a nice place  :)
From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,
you just knew you were in for a very special time ahead.!
