Boat Deck
« on: Sep 25, 2010, 04:37 PM »
Early evening on Boat Deck, mid-med, most people have gone in to get ready for dinner.

Great picture.  Note the ladder (stairs) that originally led up to the Sports Deck, starboard side.  Does anyone know when these were removed?

The Boat Deck in 1981

Louis, this photo is just amazing.   The boat deck looks so run down and in a state of disrepair.   I've never seen it like this before!

I don't think the paintwork (black davits and khaki coloured superstructure) helped at all Scott. Thankfully the davist were painted white during the re-engining and the supersrtucture was white from June 1983.

Great photo!  Also notice the pre-teak black plastic railings!  While from a distance, the blacked out equipment did give the ship a different look, I agree that up close, it looks pretty run down or at least not what you'd expect on a passenger ship.

The blacked out davits, and khaki ? superstructure made her look AWESOME from a distance, her signature look I think, making her look even lower, longer and sleeker, and different, but i agree that close up it does not appear to have been good!!

My thoughts exactly.  The black and khaki was more for distant viewing from off the ship.  The white made it more appealing up close.

A brief snippet of Boat Deck where you can see the sea disappear as QE2 pitched in the water - wonderful!

My favorite activity... first thing in the morning, last thing at night, and countless time in between.

Superb!

Curiously, it seems no-one has admitted (yet!) to venturing along here when it was officially about to be made 'out of bounds',
it was almost impossible to stand up - and equally difficult to get back inside on one occasion...

Some brilliant shots that have evoked fond memories - cant see the khaki shot people are commenting on, has it been removed?
