Even on crossings it was a hot spot, a place to see and be seen late at night and into the wee hours.... even if it was just a few folk out braving the wind and the chill.
The lack-of one is something I consider a short-coming on QM2, open deck just outside the nightclub for cool fresh air and a smoke, for those who want one.
I remember one night when it became a sort of open-air dormitory. One New Years when we were dead in the water enroute from San Juan to NYC, many passengers came up from their hot and stuffy cabins in their jammies looking for a cool place to get some rest. I wish I had a photo.
As the party in the Yacht Club was still going very strong, the party simply migrated out on deck with those poor souls, refugees from non-air conditioned cabins, who just wanted to get some rest after celebrating the Bells at midnight.
