Ah Ha! Guess What!
There is an poor benighted Extremely Ugly ship that is about to take on passengers and it looks as if the designers may have got their Big Idea for their Mighty Huge ship from an idea previously explored at some stage during TheQE2Story.com World Cruise 2009

In a class of her own, QOTS has Dodgems!

(For the passengers who might have misbehaved, there's a London Eye type of Glass Goldfish Bowl, aka The Brig; and on days when the seas are doing what they do best, might these glass Bowls be deemed fit for Weddings?)

At a time when much of shipbuilding is moving out of Europe and (mostly) into Asia, it is a pleasure to see that Meyer Werft is continuing to produce cruise ships, to a high quality standard and profitably.

Whether or not we would like to sail on Quantum of the Seas, it is good to remember that building this ship and her successors guarantees hundreds of jobs in Europe now and for another couple of years at least -- something that makes Meyer Werft stand out in this day and age and makes for a rare good news story in European shipbuilding.

Agreed Isabelle - Meyer Werft, Fincantieri and STX (Chantiers de l'Atlantique) all continue to produce excellent vessels. I was working on Celebrity's most recent newbuild Reflection just after she went into service and the quality was very apparent - not just in the spaces the passengers see but behind the scenes as well.

They may not look very nice but I'd be quite happy if the UK was churning them out!!

Agreed, that despite the fact that these ships are too large and not very attractive, ships are still being built and good to know that they are of good quality construction.  It indicates the ship building trade is alive and well.  Agreed too, that it is too bad that there is none going on in the UK nor the US.

Ovation of the Seas in 2016 - sorry but just as ugly as the other floating office blocks crammed full of people.

So I see this one is equipped with a tree trimmer also.  I suppose they can make a little money on the side by trimming back the foliage while in some ports !!   ;D

That is even better as there are more high rises for window cleaning than trees to trim.

How about this.  She pulls up next to another cruise ship and cleans all the balcony windows !
