Great photos, Pete, and great work on your model.  How many hours would you say you have put in so far ?  And any more plans to have her float again ?  June.  :)

Hi June, cannot believe it's been 2 winters work, looking on line, masking, painting, rubbing it off & starting again, researching & still getting it wrong (bit under the bridge, & who knows what else ). hours wise I couldn't tell you,  it's a lot , the result should be better, maybe will be when finished. Yes, I will give her a splash on completion(whenever that maybe). Thank you for showing an interest
Pete.. ::)

Hi Pete - Thanks very much for your message and details.  Your attention to detail will definitely show our true QE2 when she is finished.  And I do believe it took more than 2 winters for our ship to be built at John Brown's.  I am confident she will be awesome when finished and I can not wait to see her take to the water again.  All the best to you and Mrs. Pete and to Jim !  June   :)

O K , my Homage' to QE2 & her current predicament
                                                                                   this model is getting ready soon for fitting of davits & boats (once painted).
 Poor QE2 has had her 'essence' ripped away & tossed onto the dockside by the vandals, my little homage to the real thing , at least thes items are going aboard soon!

Great work, Pete
Please excuse ignorance here - Is she the type of model that can float?

 Rosie, this model was originally planned to be motorised, there are parts of the kit to be used for mounting motors & the like, I'm not using. Have balasted it & floated it in the bath at home( previous posts). I will take it down to the park lake for a final once only launching when finished , probably 2020 at my present rate of progress.
 QE2 forever , thanks for your kind comments , I am pleased with the paint , but my eyesight really isn't all that good now, & this kit has really small parts & shaky hands dictate a revisiting of some of them at a later date, the foremast for example  needs a bit more work yet & is wrapped in bubblewrap it will be the last thing to be fit , I've broken the ends of each arm , & don't want to do it again.

Any more word on painting the davits and lifeboats ?

Your model is progressing very nicely with very detailed work.

Marvellous work Pete.
I was going to have a helper on my model weekend before last as you know, but unfortunately that did not eventuate so I've had to do those jobs myself! More importantly, your model is coming along beautifully. The details on the boat deck will add real intricacy to your model and make it even better.
Fancy those pesky Australians moving into the shipyard. Do you ever think about the fact that the real ship was built faster than we make these models?
Best regards to you,
Lachlan
