Notified by Blue Funnel this morning that QE arrival into Southampton will be slightly later than originally planned. We now leave Ocean Village at 0700 and expect to be back in around 0930. Great news - it'll be daylight for those pictures!

While Blue Funnel had such an early departure time is a mystery. Queen Elizabeth has always been "alongside at 0930".

Would it not have been a good thing if the other 2 sisters or cousins or whatever we wanna call em...were there in Southampton to welcome her???  Would have given Southampton a real boost ...instead of always having the 3 Queens 'meet' in New York all the time  ( The exception  being when QE2 was having a small refit prior to her sale in 2008)..

This would have brought the new ship and Cunard into the limelight....

( We had hope to sail close to the maiden voyage date on one of the Cunarders if not on the maiden voyage...but nothing there as Vikky off on fly cruising and Mary sails from NY on the 12th back to Soton....so we will just  have  to go back home)..........

That would have been a real publicity coup to have had all three Queens together in their home port for the Maiden Voyage of Elizabeth

Would that it had been QE2 there to greet her. :(

I see Southampton City Council are doing a few celebratory things for the new ships arrival.....All very ELIZABETHAN...dressed in period costume with little theatres etc,....they ALWAYS put in a lot of effort for a new Queens arrival....sounds like fun,.....

That bbc piece is far more accurate than anything they've printed previously. properly researched journalism rather than regurgitated cunardpress releases.

Well done bbc, eventually.

Well, except for the bit about qe2 being in dry dock that is!

The daily mail piece dismisses qm2 as just an earlier replacement for qe2, and makes out that this is the real replacement for her. Annoying.

At least the Mail Online press report mentioned the QE2 and the tens of thousands avid fans. Pity they had not left it at that and not linked into them not being satisfied with the QM2 which is not entirely true as some do like the ship and some do not like the ship..

The photos of the QE  in the article show that the design is exactly the same as the QV but with a different colour scheme.  This is a bit disappointing. I had hoped that at least the grand lobby would have been completely different.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank
