I really don't know where this should go but I found a great picture of QE2 at the dockside with a tanker.

Logged on to the internet today and usually the first website that appears is msn.com. One of the top articles today was a slideshow type article of history making vessels that you can visit today. The author of the article definitely saved the best for last!

This sends me to a web page seller.

That suggests the domain the blog referred to back in 2010 has expired or been surrendered and is available to be re-registered.

Since the rise of Facebook, many websites have been neglected, and then not renewed by their creators.  Its very sad. Only yesterday I was discovering how many sites that I used to get QE2 information from, have just disappeared over the years.

The true internet, the true web, was/is a very precious thing, but needs people to look after it either for profit, or voluntarily.  Technical people to renew the licenses, pay for the domain names, and update the website itself so it keeps working and stays secure, and content people to add/maintain content.

One thing you can do - is look on the WayBack machine to see if the site was indexed, and then you might find the page there.  https://web.archive.org/

With pressure mounting on Facebook on all sides, my worry is that one day it will actually disappear in a bang, and take years worth of content with it - and you'll have all these years of people sharing their memories, just gone.

Passionate about QE2's service life for 40 years and creator of this website.  I have worked in IT for 28 years and created my personal QE2 website in 1994.

I agree - Facebook is probably more at risk of vanishing suddenly than most other sites; it's simply had too many data use scandals.  It's very vulnerable to external pressure from several sources now.

It would probably be wise for people to create archives of anything of historical value on Facebook.

Still so surreal to see QE2 in this list, also since we visited the Viking Ship museum in Oslo whilst on QE2 back in August 2006! Here's one of my Dad's photos from that day:

QE2 Northern Odyssey cruise, July/August 2006 by Thomas Hypher, on Flickr
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.
