You make a lovely couple. Nice to see you in a DJ, Alan. The Shangri-La bash was to be a proper black tie do and when it was announced to the officers, they were told to wear dinner jackets if attending. This caused a bit of consternation. None of them travelled so equipped and the chances of finding a Singaporean "Moss Bros" at short notice seemed remote. :o The committee was informed and a compromise reached. The Officers would be permitted to wear Lounge Suits. This was communicated back to the Wardroom, where it was soon discovered that pretty much no one had packed one of them either. :-[ Most guys had a basic "Run Ashore Rig" hanging in their wardrobes aside their uniforms. So, back to the committee, where it was agreed that Mess Kit could be worn ashore  ::)

The result can be seen in your splendid photo.

I am currently preparing my QE2 menu Collection to sell on eBay and when looking at this one saw that the flags spell out the name Queen Elizabeth 2.

Like all the menus they look better than in the photos.

I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank
