Currently on Queen Victoria, sometimes in the Wintergarden and usually on the several screens in the Golden Lion,
  - and  certainly was a year ago on QM2 in the 'sandwich making' area aft in the Kings Court and in the Golden Lion, (not the Wintergarden)
 -  and almost certainly on QE,  the following are shown:
All the top UK premiership games, UEFA and Champions League games mostly involving UK teams - as well as Cup finals, and International games.
There's no reason to doubt why this isn't still the case!

The big Final (is it American football, or base ball??) in the US (usually in February) traditionally turns the Golden Lion into a great, late party night for the Americans, some never even got to bed as we sailed across the Pacific!

'Tis always a little strange watching footie on QV, as opposed to watching in the stadium, or in pubs - there is almost always no sound from the audience, they sit very quietly, mixed club allegiances, or none - and there are usually only mutters when there's a goal.. it took some doing for some of us  8)  to stay quiet when a much needed goal was scored. At times there was just a sense of moderated scorn - sadly, no good banter!
Games are also shown in Cabins, as are F1 races...The timing of games shown round the world is sometimes different, and as the ship is dependent on satellite comms, there is occasionally a big glitch - sometimes even at a crucial moment! I think that the Officers and Crew also have access to the same service from SKY.

To keep to the Topic - do we really need football coverage... Yes! There are plenty of other places for the non-footie fans to go, and on QV, the Golden Lion is pretty well sound-proofed

I'm not even going to be watching any of the football on my home TV.  Or anywhere else for that matter!

Yes exactly, Adam.

And Hank, I don't think they would bother to show the ordinary club competitions, but the World Cup (starting in just a few days' time) and the European Cup (in two years' time) are important enough to get everyone excited!

Oh. I just called it European Football because of the American football that's all the rage in North America...Come to think of it, I don't know if if watch that either...

Me neither, unfortunately most men in Scotland seem incapable of talking about anything else... Which makes you wonder why we're so rubbish at the sport!

I suppose it is a case of each to their own.  As a proud Englishman I'd always want to watch my national team and cheer them on, whatever the sport.  Some of us don't want to see that and I can understand that, just like some of us don't want to go on a cruise to buy and inch of gold or the artwork.

The one question it does raise is how the cruise market has/is changing.  Whilst it always has existed to keep ships making money and part passenger's from theirs to my mind nowadays the ocean plays a real second fiddle to this.

Just think back to the classic liners we all love (Obviously including QE2), outdoor space, windows and lounges to sit a look at the ocean were plentiful.  This doesn't appear to be the case on the more modern block of flats type ships, however they do offer so many more balconies so you can experience the ocean on your own with a (in the main) plastic chair!

I would not look at football at all, I would rather see a mans game. Give me Rugby or Formula 1 racing any day they earn their money.

I myself prefer hockey, but I guess they must please the majority.
