Thanks to the re-broadcast, there were 350 people reading our website during and after the programme.

The same happened last time if I remember correctly? :)
"The QE2 is one of the last great transatlantic liners, and arguably the most famous liner in the world"

"QE2 and Concorde, a partnership that lasted almost 30 years... two stunning pieces of engineering, never to be forgotten!"

Fantastic!  BBC Four HD didn't exist back when this was first broadcast, so now I have a chance to grab a high quality recording.  Now they just need to re-broadcast the best ever QE2 TV programme - "QE2, The Last Great Liner" - https://www.theqe2story.com/forum/index.php/topic,4820.0.html

I still think Alan Whicker and his 4 part Fast Boat to China..was the best ever..granted some 30 years ago..but a timeless classic
From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,
you just knew you were in for a very special time ahead.!

While watching some QE2 related videos on YouTube tonight, I came across this splendid documentary. Heard about this a couple years ago, but was unable to watch it after during some thorough searching. This was very enjoyable to watch and am glad I was able to find it! Very emotional seeing Captain McNaught signing the log book for the last time.

To those who would like to watch it, below is the link.

The saddest part of the documentary for me is when Ian makes the final Cunard ship's log entry.
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

For that final log signing there was just the Captain, me, an officer of the watch and two people from the BBC filming it. We wanted to capture that moment for the film but couldn't get the Bridge to ourselves all morning. When things were quiet we filmed him completing the log book with a queue of new owners representatives banging on the main bridge door demanding to be let in!

Great documentary, I loved it.

And great musical choice as well (the sublime "L'Enfant" by Vangelis during the first three minutes).

Been listening to Vangelis many times while on board QE2… and I was told he had travelled on her a couple of times as well.

BBC Timewatch - QE2: Final Voyage
Video on YouTube

Hello Mods - Sorry! This may well be a duplicate and please do feel free to delete this post.
I would if I could but I can't!
I seem to remember that I posted it (or similar) last year!   :-[
Just wondering whether anyone watched the 'Final Voyage' on the UKTV Yesterday Channel, 2 days ago?
Was it this BBC video that was shown then? Rosie.
