Whats your favourite QE2 guest appearance on a T.V programme?
QE2 has made quite a lot of appearances on T.V shows over the years the list goes on from Dramas, Comedys and Entertainment shows.

This is my favourite. Its so funny. :D

Note: Video no longer available on You tube and as there is no mention of what the video was Moderators  cannot search for it.

That episode of Keeping Up Appearances is hilarious. I always laugh so much when I watch it. There is another episode where Hyacinth gets workmen to set her house alarm to the QE2's horn.

And there's also one of the Coronation Street episodes which was supposed to be filmed on the QE2 - but I have not found that one yet.

And then there is the newer version of the Parent Trap - which I only watch the first 5 minutes of. LOL

Off-topic but the QM2 was the inspiration for a ship in a Japanese anime.

There are a few references to QE2 in the last series of Keeping Up Appearances.
Did you know whilst it was showing QE2 leaving Southampton before Hyacinth was trying to stop the ship the Band was playing "Sailing" that was one of the defining songs of the Falklands era where QE2 was turned into a troopship.

My Mum has a tape of the Corrie QE2 special somewhere. I would like to see that episode again.

Quote
Masterchef" in 2006 did a fun episode on board, with breakfast in the Lido and a dinner for the Captain as contests.  It's great to see the QE2 galleys in action.
The Dinner sequence featured Captain Nick Bates, and interestingly two of his Table guests were ladies from the west coast who were onboard for the Round UK and the Voyage to Dubai.
I had sold them online a QE2 ladies powder compact and we just assumed we would see each other onboard during the 10 days, as it happened we bumped into each other in the quayside in Newcastle and that was the first and last we saw of each other, and we both covered a lot of ground on that trip.

From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,
you just knew you were in for a very special time ahead.!

National Geographic's "The Superliners - Twilight of an Era" was the first time I had seen the QE2 in action - it was one of the things that got me interested in her - then she came to Boston for DecWorld in 1987 and I knew I had to sail on her!  My copy of "Superliners" is VHS - I have to find a way to get it onto DVD!!

IS THIS REALLY  ON TV in THE UNITED STATES TODAY!
Hope that this is correct - I can't find a date - unless it's been staring me in the face!

I've seen that :) although it must have been about four years ago. I thought that I had a copy but I've just looked and can't find it. My recollection is that it was mainly a recording of the players with not that much about the ship. I'm annoyed that I can't find it though  >:(

It is available from National Geographic on DVD. I recall taking out the VHS tape version from our local library to watch way back in 2000 as a primer for my first time onboard.  I am going to purchase this one.

That isn't the same film :( (or, at least I don't think so although several films were the same but with different names).

They also don't ship outside the US and Canada :(

Kathy - do you live outside the US and Canada? What was the postage? Their website says "We can only ship to the United States and Canada."

If you want one, I'll order 2 and ship it to you.  Another question I would have though, would it play on your DVD players in the UK?
