Hello Louis!

The asbestos was mostly in the accomodation area, up in public rooms there was no asbestos warning signs that i know off.
When did you last here anything 'definitely, and for certain' about the asbestos ?
Do you know where there's a report - for example?

I dont think there is much, if any, asbestos left onboard.
Loads of it was removed during the re engining refit. Thats partly wy the refit was delayed.

The lino was fantastic. A real throwback to the old queens. But wasn't it added in the later crystal bar refit? 99?

Asbestos has been discussed in a separate thread on the forum.
All 5 main passenger decks have all their original asbestos lurking behind the original panels everywhere, but it doesn't matter, at all, unless disturbed...

absolutely sure.  the passenger cabins/decks have mostly not been touched since 69.

The main asbestos removal in 86/7 was from the engine room spaces etc. - this alone was a huge task.  im pretty sure its mostly intact in the public areas too, except where its had to be messed with.

Couple of superb photos of QE2 during a Bremerhaven refit (no year given), taken by our member Andreas Busecke, and to be seen here on Luis Miguel Correia's pages :

I just saw on the homepage from the 2006 re-fit... there was alot of black on the bow of QE2. I tried saving the webcam image to show, but it didnt work right? What would this be??
Thanks

Was this where the paint was removed down to bare metal?  I need to look back at photos I collected on this refit.

Supplementary question: How often was the paint removed down to bare metal?

It didnt look like it. It was a webcam image, so of the top of the bow, with alot of black, looked like a fire type mark.
