The World Cruise, was always a dream voyage since l can remember. But as my own voyages notched up l have nearly gone round it twice when the days are added up.
BUT over the years speaking with various passengers and some very dear friends, Im not sure now that l would have enjoyed it
(yes l know imagine me saying that) for a start, think of that dreaded weight gain, Three weeks is long enough on that basis, even then the last few nights im into my expanding trousers, the luggage, l never could travel light, and oh lord the souvenirs, then think on all the stuff you get onboard, the daily programmes, l always picked a few extra each day, the onboard newspaper, and all the other stuff that finds its way into the cabin, generally anything that came into the cabin, came home with me, nothing really ended up in the bin. Then of course there is the onboard purchases. How on earth do you get all the luggage home. Four/five cases after a cruise is enough that even by train it can cause problems, flying home isnt an option as the cases are well over any luggage weight.
Its stupid but l now find it easier to fly home with six cases from LA as the "system" makes everything so easy.
There are times when you can become quite blase about the voyages, upto a week l always considered to short, and even then unpacked very little, upto ten days- two weeks you could call that a cruise, and then when you were sailing for over two weeks, now that was a proper voyage, you could fully unpack and sit back and enjoy the trip.. A three week cruise was for me about as long as l could manage.
Then of course you have the ocean motion and the emotion of the last days onboard as you get attached to new found friends, l can get weepy eyed leaving ports l dont even like... But in all seriousness a World Cruise would probably kill me....
