Cunard World Club mess...
« on: Oct 04, 2024, 04:39 PM »
Wondering if anyone has ever experienced problems with the Cunard WorldClub loyalty level?

I'm in the process of booking a cruise for next year, but Cunard wouldn't acknowledge my Diamond loyalty level, considering me as a 1st time Guest.

I wanted them to amend this. I had to provide them with proofs (passage tickets, CWC cards, etc), which I had fortunately kept. It took them 5 days to agree to consider me as a Diamond member again, although with a new number.

Furthermore, while digging in my archives for that matter, I realised that, after cruising as a Diamond member in 2008, I was downgraded to a Platinum in 2009, something I (stupidly) didn't notice at the time. The 4 following voyages I did were as Platinum, only to become Diamond again in 2017.

From 1994 to 2008, everything was fine. Then from 2009, there's been a mess with CWC numbers everytime we booked, despite always from the same travel agent in Switzerland. We have constantly been attributed new numbers, and loyalty level was often incorrect (always downwards, never upwards...).

So, welcome to my seventh CWC number to date!

Rather confusing policy, to say the least.

The only problem we experienced was on the World Cruise this year, when we received the welcome letter from the World Cruise Office onboard the ship, the letter noted the wrong loyalty level.  We are diamond members.  We complained to the Purser's Office, received a second letter with the correct information and a bottle of sparking wine. But then on the second sector of the World Cruise the same thing happened, a letter with the wrong information, which we asked to be amended (no sparkling wine on the second occasion).  We thought it was the onboard staff but looks like it could be a on-shore office problem.  Something to watch out for - thanks for the information.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Sounds infuriating!

There's a bit on their website where you can see a record of all your voyages - I found it fairly recently I think.

Their loyalty program needs a rethink anyway, I find it almost worthless (I'm platinum, and unlikely to ever get above that level).  The sum total of benefit to me on my recent transatlantic trip was $80 off of my internet.  On some other cruise lines, the loyalty members get free drinks during loyalty happy hours each night - thats more like it!

Passionate about QE2's service life for 40 years and creator of this website.  I have worked in IT for 28 years and created my personal QE2 website in 1994.

It all went tits up when it was no longer run by Anne Bright. If you dont know who she was, then there's no use explaining    Im Diamond and since QE2 have no infor . The year books were never sent automatically and the mailings are no longer mailed , iv had simply nothing for years from them. Ok im not about to take a Cunard trip any time soon , but that isn't the point .
Anne bright took a personal interest, she knew who you were.

They do need to rethink the loyalty levels, theres far to many of us out there and the returns for such passion dont frankly seem worth it
Im more horrified that theres members out there who have achieved the giddy heights of Diamond without touching dear old QE2 !
From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,
you just knew you were in for a very special time ahead.!
