July 2023 : Original QE2 Souvenirs
« on: Jul 02, 2023, 09:57 PM »
The theme for this month's photo competition is "Original QE2 Souvenirs", chosen by Bob C.

Photos should be of souvenirs produced and made available during QE2's service life. They could be owned by members who bought or received them on board, or who acquired them later. They could be items that were entirely free. Use your own interpretation!

Photos could be taken during QE2's service life, or later. The important thing is that the souvenirs must date from QE2's service life, and not from a later period.

Some may already be in the QE2 Story Gallery -- if you would like to use one of those for the competition, just let the Moderators know, and we can enter them for you, without removing them from their original albums.

Your description should if possible give some information about the souvenir and its meaning for you.

Photos entered should be your own, or if not, please post them with permission of the photographer, mentioning the name for copyright reasons, and so that the owner can win the prize!

Enjoy the search! It is bound to bring many happy memories (and perhaps some surprises!) :) .

The prize this month is the book by Christopher Wallace "The Final Westbound Crossing" (donated by me). This can be seen in these topics of the QE2 Story :

How to enter

The album is open -- so now is the time to look for your three most interesting pictures on this theme. Wishing you happy memories as you search your photo collection to find up to three pictures to upload to the competition album.

This link will take you straight there : Original QE2 Souvenirs.

If you have not uploaded photos to the Forum Gallery before, have a look at these instructions, and if you have any problems or would like us to move a photo from the Gallery into the competition, just contact us on admin@theqe2story.com.

If it helps, you could email the photos to the above address, and we shall gladly upload them for you.

The deadline for submitting photos is 31 July 2023. Voting will run from 1 August 2023 until 1 September 2023, until everyone's time zone has caught up with the closing date.

We look forward to seeing your photos in this competition.

This is the ninth month of photos for the 2024 calendar. Maybe your photo will figure there!

Enjoy yourselves!  :)

I've also added my three picture to the competition album.

There are lots of souvenirs in the memorabilia album.  If you have photos in this album that you would like to add to this month's photo competition, please contact one of the moderators and we can add the picture while retaining in the original album

Also looking for crew souvenirs.  Did the crew have a shop where they could purchase souvenirs?

It's a great theme, and allows people who never actually took photos of/on QE2 to enter!

As Rob has said this is a perfect opportunity to take photos of memorabilia to enter for the competition.

We noticed in the gallery there are three pages with pictures of souvenirs in the memorabilia gallery album

If you have uploaded photos to the memorabilia album that meet the theme and would like to add up to three pictures to the photos competition, the moderators can help by adding to the competition album whilst keeping in the original album.  Just contact us at admin@theqe2story.com with information of what photos you want added and we will add the photos.
