Hi Chris,

I have just discovered that three of my grandsons were playing with your youngsters on the QE voyage between Auckland and Sydney in January. I can only hope that Ethan, Archer, and Freddy did not corrupt your clan! You passed within 3 feet of me in the Kidz Club on the day before you disembarked, but were looking the other way or I would have recognised you. I ended up with all 5 of my grandsons on board at various times during our stay.

As the ship had a dirty bottom and wasn't allowed to take us home to NZ, we stayed on board for the resultant 'Mystery Cruise' and ended up doing Brisbane & Cairns as well, which weren't on the original itinerary.

Hi everyone, thought you'd enjoy a few updates on the jigsaw puzzling!!

Day One: Tricky puzzle but satisfying to build:

Here's the progress after day 1 - It's a lot trickier than I'd expected but I think the water and sky has a lot to do with that. It's a good challenge and we're making progress. You can now make out a few of QE2's distinctive features.

Day 2 update: Making progress!


The secret we've discovered is to sort the ocean into a pile and then focus on that - and it all comes together. We used some of the QE2 boot top paint as a way to identify where the key pieces when and the rest fell into place. The bridge is now a bit more visible as well as the curve of the bow.

Day 3 update - the ship is really starting to take shape now!!
A bit about the image: The photo was taken by either Rachelle or myself back in 2008 when the QE2 was alongside in Piraeus. It was her penultimate visit to the port. I was mesmerised by the ship's lines especially from this angle.
