Bob Bantock (Fecky) 1981 - 1984

Hi there everybody and thanks for the acceptance and registration to the forum. I was researching and writing for a couple of social articles regarding my time on QE2 and came across the forum link and hey presto! here we are. I think I was on the previous friends re-united thing but lost a bit of interest.

Anyway, I turned 60 yesterday and was onboard QE2 from 4 March 1981 to 8 April 1984. I signed up with Cunard at the age of 19 and joined the ship in Singapore as an assistant confectioner. I think she was part way through a world cruise. I had a fantastic time with lots of memories, met loads of people and done loads of things.

I even had the chance to sail away down the Falklands.

I have some photos and stories to tell which I will share once I become familiar with the forum layout as I will be keen to follow the standards and etiquette.

I have cruised with Cunard since I left the Merch and been onboard QM2 and Queen Victoria (twice). My last cruise was on 7 Oct 22
as I did a 4-night jaunt to Amsterdam.

Anyway, my search that led me here was that I was looking for a ship's movement card to prove the QE2 was in the falklands and a crew list to show that I was onboard at the time (any help gratefully received). I will also post this request on the main forum when I find the right place for it.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum Bob and thanks for posting your introduction.  There are some members who would have been on the ship at the same time, so I hope they can take time to respond.  There are also members who were on QE2 when she sailed to the Falklands.

There is a crew topic on QE2 Falklands War/Falklands Conflict where you could post your request for the information you are looking for and also post some memories of sailing to the South Atlantic on QE2.
