Black Painted Furniture Cabins

In the 1977 refit several suites received a new style - that was all the trend then - and were wall papered and had the wooden built-in furniture painted black - a 'problem' Dubai was left to deal with as the paper and black coloured furniture remained on QE2 until the end of her Cunard career.

Ten Schreiber Suites were completely stripped and refurbished as part of a new scheme involving a total of ten of the original Schreiber rooms on One and Two Decks. The new scheme included painting the dressing tables and wooden units black, covering the walls in wallpaper and painting the ceilings white.

Oh! When this came up in the QE2 Dubai tread, in context it seemed that you were saying THE WALLS were painted black!!! That, I couldn't imagine! :o

It seems like the black furniture might fit in with their new interior design as they have painted the woodwork in the Penthouses black.
