The only thing that seems to have reduced in price is the phone calls, My first crossing in 86 l made a satelite call back home and it was about $12 a minute what l do remember about that was there was no indication of any ringing tone there was just a voice and you were connected.. granted it took some seconds. l called home during a force 10 gale lamenting to my parents about what fun i was having.
From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,
 you just knew you were in for a very special time ahead.!

The self service Laundry, it was never a place l had much dealings with, but only really in the latter years, A friend who sailed with me confinded on once such cruise when l collected her and her luggage  that she had packed a lot of her good clothes to take onboard to get professionally cleaned, as it was much better than her home laundry. Then again some of us used to travel with enough clothes not to bother with such mundane things as laundry. When you see these fly cruises with only one suitcase and shudder at the thought.
