Look forward to hearing of your tales from onboard the ship, Night Gang, what on earth did that job entail? what did you enjoy most about working onboard the greatest ship in the world?

Hi Neil - Welcome to the Forum.  It's always fun to read about the experiences of crew members on the QE2.  How did you end up working on the QE2?   I look forward to reading about your time on the ship.  Did you meet any other celebs?

Janice
Whenever I hear a sea story I think of the first time I saw the QE2 and the great adventures that followed.

hi janice.I did meet another celeb none other than Hollywood actor Pat Obrien from 30's and 40's era. He was on board with the great Jimmy Cagney. Rod Stewart came to our cabin and had a drink with us, no lie. I was gob smacked. I shared my cabin with the captains tiger. Pierre had met rod on a previous trip when I was on leave. He said he liked my taste in music. We then took rod for a tour around the bridge and he was joined by his then wife alana. What a day that was.my time as senior stwd was a amazing experience. I looked after staff captain, chief officer, chief engineer and deputy chief engineer.I will never forget my time on board,it was magical. Who can say at the age of sixteen or seventeen that they travelled the world for a living.

Hi Neil - I have often thought about how young many of the stewards were on the QE2.  While most 16 and 17 year olds were still living at home, you guys (there were no female stewards when I was on board in 1978) were, as you say, traveling around the world having the adventures of a life time.  Share some more of your QE2 stories with us won't you?

I remember Rod Stewart being on board then. I was manageress of Steiner and he was very naughty, kept making facial  appointments for himself and not turning up and not letting us know. He also trapped his finger badly in his penthouse door and refused to pay his medical bill. His language was dreadful to the Doctor when he went to ask him why he wouldn't pay.
