« on: Jul 11, 2013, 08:36 AM »
In today's business section of The Times p 41, news of a big development on the south side of the Thames at Greenwich, together with 770 new homes, there'is to be a new 240 metre long 'luxury cruise liner terminal', it will moor one ship carrying up to 3000 passengers for an average of three days. 'There will also be a 251-room hotel'.
The plans were announced some time ago, permission has since been granted.
Today's article relates  to Barratts and Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing.

Hmm.... what they need is a large stylish floating hotel in the vicinity that could accomodate people who are preparing to go on a cruise or who have just returned from one.  Something that could accomodate about 50% of the passenger capacity of these giant ships, so say in the vicinity of being able to hold 1700 to 1800 pssengers...

Any ideas...?  ;)

And, in my opinion, if DDW/Oceanic want to save face, they would combine forces with the London team and work with them (or at least communicate more.)

You have to question Dubai World's logic for a Far East proposal

London has a 4 year payback not 10 years

The Far East are investing in London $4.5 billion last month for the Royal docks next to where QE2 will located and yet Dubai want to invest in the Far East.

London has a recession proof economy.

They want to convert the ship into something that looks like any other hotel when you do not need to for a London market.

With London, their revised offer was an upfront cash payment for the ship and still have a joint venture participation with London.

There has to be a hidden agenda, why get the ship operational? to prove to the investors that she can sail?

If that's the case Mr  Ho could be the investor, which means there is a good chance once she is in the Far East they would use her as a gambling ship and Cunard could not do anything about it as they would just get tied up in a long legal battle.
