Looks like a very sad loss as the Dutch training ship, the Tall Ship Astrid, sank near Kinsale (Co. Cork, Ireland) this morning :

Fortunately, all the crew were rescued and given the necessary care.

I remember seeing Astrid back in the mid-70's during Operation Sail, a gathering of the world's tall ships that traveled from city to city.  I saw her in Baltimore.

Tragic end to a beautiful ship.

Salvage experts meet with insurers over sunken sail ship.

It looks as though the Astrid can be salvaged, as not too much has broken, but she is not going to be repaired, because such repairs would be too expensive.
