I was following QE2 around the world at the time, mainly by looking at the new photographs appearing on Flickr every day.

Her sailaway from Fremantle was, in my view, the most spectacular of her entire final season -- at least from a photographer's point of view  :D  ! How she sailed away into a fabulous golden sunset was enough to make anyone go "WOW!"...

Here is a small selection of pictures of the occasion :

There are 8 pages of pictures in this selection; the glorious sunset starts from about page 2 onwards. Our own Chris was there and took a lot of beautiful pictures included here.

I've probably posted this before, but since it's on topic. Here's the link to the blog entry I wrote about QE2's final Fremantle visit.

Brandon, thank-you for posting this video of the "Majestic" QE2 leaving Fremantle.  See this has made my day  :)

Oh wow, I was there aboard the ship and what a day this was. The atmosphere was alive. So many people came out to farewell the ship and aboard there was a sense of celebration, in both the ship’s long service life but also in celebrating the way she brought people together over the years. It was amazing to see the reaction to QE2 as she left Australian ports. A wonderful experience.

Two fantastic videos that show the beauty of QE2 and capture the excitement of when QE2 was in port.  Happy memories for you Chris!

Love QE2  :-*
