What Is It Going To Take?
« on: Feb 04, 2018, 09:31 PM »
When I read an article a few days ago that if QM isn't properly cared for, she's bound to sink, I immediately freaked out.

I am confident that there is a lot of effort being put in to prevent that, but really, what is it going to take to save her. Like how much would it cost? What would be the best strategy? Queen Mary is a true queen. And after what happened to the Queen Elizabeth, we can't afford to let this happen.

What do we need to do?

At least a couple 100 million USD that is already avaliable and being used apparently.

Urban Commons her current main operator (as I understand it) is doing preservation and restoration work throughout (inside and out) on behalf of the City of Long Beach who still own and fund her.

First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

There she is, thats how she looked on Christmas Eve, and pretty near full of guests staying overnight.
From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,
you just knew you were in for a very special time ahead.!

That was on my birthday. I like. :D

Ah come on; sure it's a bit "off topic" if you know what I mean, but I like the sub.

It’s unoriginal and it’s been closed to the public after there was a flooding incident.

Did not know that... :-X

You're right though, they should move the sub to a place of its own.

Just give the sub it's dedicated spot somewhere else, not close to a historic ocean liner.

In this case it's likely an old article from a year or more ago when this was a possible outcome as her future was uncertain then as it has been at other times over the last 50 years.
