Came across this advert for cakes from a local bakery.  Notice that they did not use the Queen Victoria as an example.  So the QE2 is still important with regard to advertising.

Imagine a QE2 cake. I would eat the funnel first.

I would probably have nibbled away at the Mast, first, then it would still look kind of intact.  (But not for long!)

I know this thread was originally started way back in 2009, but Waverley, would this happen to have been a certain bakers in Greenock by any chance?

I ask because it looks remarkably like this . . . . and if it is, there is a story to be told!

Happy Birthday QE2

Today is a special day in the calendar as QE2 is celebrating 56 years since her launch today. 

I am looking forward to seeing photos from Dubai and hope the chefs baked her a cake to help her celebrate. 

In 2017 we celebrated in style with the conference in Clydebank to mark 50 years since her launch and we had a most delicious cake. 





I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank
