Carl Hutchison, QE2 Waiter T.O.W. 1978-1982
« on: Oct 10, 2011, 07:52 AM »
I was fortunate enough to work on board from 1978-82. 4 wonderful years and 4 world cruses. Worked with people from all over, all races and it was a blast. Made many friends and today still in touch with many with thanks to internet. The last time I saw QE2 was in march 2005 in Singapore, it was hard to believe I worked on her some 23 years ago, ha-ha old hand. So for all you lovely people who I got to know and became friends but have since lost touch I hope you are all well and remember the good old days on 2 deck half  8) and down the pig and whistle.

Welcome to the QE2 Story.

There are many ex crew who are members of the Forum so hopefully there will be some that you knew from your time onboard QE2.  Looking forward to hearing some of your stories about working on QE2.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Welcome indeed to the forum, It would be great to hear what job you had onboard and perhaps share some of your memories from life onboard the greatest ship in the world..
From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,
you just knew you were in for a very special time ahead.!

Hello Carl - and Welcome!

It's great that you have joined us - and hope you find the guys you knew on board.
QE2 was simply the best wasn't she?!
I guess that you worked incredibly hard - hope it was good fun too!
4 Worldies as well as all the Trans-Atlantics, the Med and Norway etc - that's a great mileage!
When / if you have time, it would be good to hear a bit more of what you enjoyed most about the old girl!
Rosie.

Hi Carl
You mentioned Gravesend on another thread
and it might be helpful putting Gravesend into the advanced search bit at the top of the index page here,
you'll find several references posted here by others who trained there before joining QE2
and - is this link any help?

Carl, welcome from an OLD Engineer. This is a great place to hang out!
On another thread you used the expression "Boxed Off". Have't heard that expression since the late 80"s!
