61 steps on H Stairway.

Initial plans for Q4 indicate that this staircase did not extend to One Deck.

From Four to Five Deck, this staircase became ‘Crew Only’ in August 2006.

How odd, to change this after so long!  What was the reason do you know?

Probably because a whole chunk of passenger cabins were given over to crew use in this area so no need for passengers to go any lower than Four Deck.

H Stairway looking down from 4 Deck

I don't think I ever really took in H Stairway.

Somehow, my QE2 world only went as far as G Stairway...

Where would H Stairway have taken me? Where would it have started and where ended (yes, of course, the end was at the "Crew Only" door!)...?

Didnt Carnival when they took over, claw back a load of cabins that crew were using and reassign them back to passenger use?
From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,

Yes, during 1998 world cruise for example a LOT of 5-deck cabins were blocked off, even on the deck plans. These were returned to use after the Carnival acquisition, but aft of G-Stair never returned to passenger use.
