You mentioned deluxe cabin 2069 in your PM to me. Here it is in 2008 - and as you say it had a different window treatment to the Dubai cabin we've seen. I much prefer this treatment.

As you discovered cabin 2069 was a Buzas and Irvine design and here is how their cabins looked in 1969.

Thanks so much Michael.  I had generally understood that the One and Two Deck Original Midship "suites" were designed by Dennis Lennon & Partners, Stefan Buzas & Alan Irvine, and Gaby Schreiber (and that the First Class Rooms were by Jon Bannenberg and the remaining rooms by Dennis Lennon & Parnters).

What I didn't put together until just yesterday was that Lennon, Buzas and Schreiber didn't collectively collaborate on one look for the one and two deck suites, but rather split them up!  So one could have travelled in Schreiber designed two deck suite (like the recently redecorated by Dubai) or a Buzas designed two deck suite (like the one posted above)! I don't know how that fascinating detail passed me by until now!  (....And now, how I regret not going a "Cabin Cavalcade"!)

Was this also the case on One Deck? Did Lennon and Schreiber design two different One Deck Suite interiors?

The 22 suites on One Deck were the main suites on board the ship and easily identified on the exterior by their oval-shaped windows and were designed as follows:

Thank you, Michael. Super helpful as always! Can you imagine a ship today having equally graded rooms design by totally different designers?!

QE2 brought some level of uniformity - every First Class cabin (all 300+ of them on Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth had individual designs!
