Abandon QE2
« on: Feb 01, 2012, 08:47 PM »
It would be interesting to hear just how often the order has been given to Abandon QE2.... and for the passengers to take to the boats.Ok perhaps not so dramatic, But have the passengers (and perhaps some of the crew) ever had to leave QE2 at an unscheduled stop..

There was the time in 1974 with passengers being evacuated onto Sea Venture and the incident of  Marthas Vineyard
From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,
you just knew you were in for a very special time ahead.!

Yes there was another 'Abandon ship' incident, although it happened in Drydock, there was a fire around the bottom of G Stairway and the order was given by, I think, Nick Bates. We all went ashore as a precaution but only for an hour or so while the fire was seen to.
