Rosie - you asked to see the crew staircases. To follow are shots I have. Enjoy!
'Enjoy' - that's a bit of an understatement! Thanks so much for showing these to us.
The width of many stairways must have been restricting, and infuriating if you were late for something important - like going off duty / watch! Seeing these makes me feel even more appreciative of what working on board could been like as an experience!
Do you know whether the walls (bulkheads?) of the staircase were squeezed between storage space, those huge exhaust pipes, ballast tanks even? It could have been really hot and noisy for the crew - not to mention bewildering for the novice! - Again, no daylight either.
I wonder if any crew member managed to use a pedometer, to measure miles covered over time?!
Absolutely fascinating to see such photos. To the untrained eyes its just stairs, but to those of us here its a whole new world..
To see anything from crew country is always very interesting (onboard
and ashore)
Thanks for posting them

So true Myles - Fascinating, and a world apart. One that many 'guests' wouldn't have imagined, in terms of inconvenience etc (as well as convenience
