QE2 Story Box of Slides : June 1976 Slides
« on: Sep 10, 2021, 01:29 PM »
I have just added a new album to our gallery called QE2 June 1976.  This is 15 slides that were within our box of slides that we acquired a couple of years ago now.

I only just realised I had never uploaded these.

I'm unsure of exactly when or where the slides were taken, but June 1976 is an educated guess.

I don't know the technical details. But, I am blown away by the colour quality of those slides.

I know!  You should have seen my face when they came up on the screen for the first time.

The photographer knew what he was doing.

What is sad, is the amount of slides that end up being binned, because people don't realise that they can deliver results like this.

I keep meaning to put an advert in the various newspapers here asking if anyone else has early QE2 slides.

Fantastic find Rob, and as Rod has said the colour quality is excellent.

Enjoyed taking time to look at them and so glad you rescued the pictures.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Stuff doing it as an advert - do it as a feature in the Glashow local media with some of these images; it'll get a heck of a lot more attention...

An excellent find! Also just a month before her engine room fire if the date is accurate.
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.
